Krakow, Poland

This is a story about a group of young people associated with Artefakt Cafe in Krakow, who decided to transfer this wonderful project by Candy Chang to a local area.

Our work came to its final on 1st July 2013. We created the Walls in a spot located within Krakow’s old Jewish quarter called Kazimierz – once forced to become an empty ghost town, now revived and filled with cafes, music clubs and art galleries.

This particular project is extremely important to us. We believe that its meaningfulness and power come from every man’s longing to improve and develop. The very first words we wrote on our wall were: “Before I die, I want to organize the Dzieje Sie! Festival” In fact, this project is its starting point: we are about to run our own festival, originally dedicated to all kinds of people’s artistic and creative activity – Dzieje Sie! (It’s On!).

During the “Dzieje Się! 2013 – Sztuka wychodzi z ram” (“It’s On! 2013 – Art comes out of the frame” festival), we will affirm the creative aspect of human life. We invite you, people from all over the world, to share your inventive energy with us. Whether you make art, music, literature, theatre/drama, design, craft, film or anything else that involves your amazing creativity – come and see, discuss and share it with us. The festival will be held in Krakow, Poland, from 2nd to 8th September 2013.

Candy Chang, we are thankful for this wonderful project and the opportunity to implement it in our city.

Before I die, I want to feel that It’s really On!

I want to become a Jedi.

I want to build a time machine.
