The creation of the wall at her alma mater, the  University of San Carlos, Talamban campus, is a homecoming project for Ploi Pagdalian, a Filipino living in Greenwood, Indiana, as well as a collaborative project with her colleague and university faculty, Radel Paredes. Ploi saw Candy Chang’s TED Talk, and was inspired to duplicate the project in her home country during her 5-week visit with her aging parents. Her visit is top on her list of things to do before she dies.

The wall is in the student lounge of the College of Architecture & Fine Arts, a partially indoor and outdoor space. The location also serves as a common space for the school’s theater where the public have access to select showings, and the entryways to the higher floors.

The launching of the wall on Feb 5 was attended by students in an Art History class who then christened the wall with their wishes, as well as local artists and faculty members.

The wall still exists and will continue to until the school community decides otherwise.

I want to save the birds.

I want to find beauty in everything.
